Steeped in the rich history of the Wild West, Miles City remains an authentic Western town. You'll see vast stretches of plains and badlands branch out in all directions. The Yellowstone and Tongue rivers flow beautifully in long sections. Miles City was once the horse-trading and livestock center of the country and still has weekly livestock auctions. Once a year, in May, Miles City puts on the Bucking Horse Sale for rodeo stock buyers and breeders. Also, you can learn about the Native American warriors and the pioneer settlers at the Range Riders Museum or go for a hike at Pirogue Island State Park. For wine lovers, the Tongue River winery is a must stop for their award-winning wines.

Range Riders Museum
A visit to Range Riders Museum will leave history buffs in awe! This sizeable museum is jam-packed with exhibits ranging from the age of the dinosaurs to the 21st century! Exhibits include great soldiers from the past, including General Custer (for whom the county is named) as well as from General Miles (for whom the town is named). The photo galleries are extensive which are of cowboys in rodeos, Native American Warriors, and Pioneer settlers of range country of the Great Plains.
Tongue River Winery
Tongue River Winery, established in 2010, with a 3-acre vineyard and orchard is Montana's only vineyard & winery in the South-Eastern region. The vineyard grows several fascinating grape and exotic fruits, and the winery crafts numerous award-winning wines. Open year-round, the winery offers free wine tastings for adults and has bottled water, pop and wine for sale. Tours and visits with the winemakers are available. Make sure you try everyone's favorite blend, Tongue Tied!

Pirogue Island State Park
Visitors find Pirogue Island State Park to be shaded by cottonwood trees, making it an excellent spot for a picnic. This Yellowstone River island is an excellent spot to view wildlife like, waterfowl, bald eagles, fox squirrels, whitetail and mule deer. There are 2.8 miles of designated hiking trails, but visitors can easily walk throughout the entire 269 acres. This park is also good for fishing, boating or hunting. Everyone will enjoy visiting this state park!
